How do I buy Australian bonds through Candour Capital?

Short answer: Four steps: confirm you are a wholesale investor (usually with an accountant's certificate), choose bonds with a Candour Capital adviser, open an account in your own, your company's, trust's or SMSF's name, and pay on settlement, two business days after the trade. The range has 360 AUD bonds from 48 issuers, most with minimums of A$100,000 to A$250,000. Call 1300 885 231 or email info [at] candourcapital.com.

Step by step

1. First conversation: how much you want to invest, for how long, and the risk you accept.

2. Eligibility: identification for you and the investing entity, and a qualified accountant's wholesale certificate (or an investment of at least A$500,000 in one product).

3. Choosing bonds: your adviser sends the terms (issuer, ranking, coupon, maturity, call dates, minimum) and an indicative price; you read the term sheet and risk disclosures.

4. Trading and settlement: you confirm the price, receive a confirmation and pay on the settlement date. Australian-issued bonds settle in Austraclear, offshore bonds in Euroclear or Clearstream.

5. While you hold: coupons are paid to your bank account; you can sell before maturity at the market price.
